Beta Testing Task 1
How long did it take to complete the task?
A few hours. The exact times for each download are listed with the computer specs.
How long did the software installation procedure take on your computer(s)? We would like you to time the installation of the
software. What was the configuration of the computer(s) on which you installed the software? (manufacturer, model, processor
type, processor speed, system memory, DVD model, operating system version)

Which software development languages did you install? (LabVIEW? C/C++?Java?)
LabVIEW
What problems or difficulties did you encounter?
We were slowed down but what could be described as user errors, silly mistakes made on our part. We did not have any actual
issues.
What questions did you have during the process?
Has there been any consideration of putting the LabVIEW install online like the updates are? Just a thought. And does it matter
the order of the updates? It doesn't seem to. Again, just another thought that occurred to us while we watched a few too many
green progress bars.
What would have made this task easier?
Not really. Standard stuff really.
Any specific suggestions on improving the documentation? (Were any instructions unclear?)
They were pretty good, fairly straightforward.
Is there anything else you want to tell us related to this task?
Not particularly. We have one more computer to install LabVIEW on so we should be posting the specs and times for that within
the near future.
Computer 4-
Dell Latitude E6500
Windows 7 Enterprise - Service Pack 1
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo CPU T9600 at 2.80Ghz
4.00 GB
64-bit Operating System
LabVIEW install time- 115 minutes (1 hour 55 minutes)
LabVIEW update install time- 1 minute
Driver Station update install time- 1 minute
Utilities update install time - 1 minute
Extra Statistics:
Average Time for LabVIEW install: 69.5 minutes (Standard Deviation of 37)
Average Time for LabVIEW update: 1 minute (Standard deviation of 0)
Average Time for Driver Station update: 1 minute(Standard deviation of 0)
Average Time for Utilities update: 1 minutes (Standard deviation of 0)
Considering this only takes into account 4 computers (which are not homogenous in specs) and that we did have a serious outlier (Computer 4) the LabVIEW install time data is not altogether reliable, but it is sorta interesting (although your definition of interesting may be different than mine). Considering that all of the update install times were around a minute, we feel pretty sure in saying "Updates take about a minute".
