Beta Testing Task 4: Smart Dashboard

With the 2nd Update to LabVIEW and Driver Station, we got a chance to play around with the Smart Dashboard. After a few hours, here are some of our thoughts.

Overall, we like it. One of the trickiest things from last year for us was trying to add multiple indicators to the dashboard. Adding one item was fairly straight forward but to add several was a roundout-i'm-not-really-sure-if-this-works-i'm-just-following- white-paper-from-CD-please-help kind of experience. This appears to make the whole process easier, which is pretty rad. I am not, however, without my questions and comments, (big surprise there..)

After doing the LabVIEW, Driver Station and Utilities Update it would appear as though when you open the Driver Station the new Dashboard comes up with it but when you open just the dashboard, it opens the new one. Or is it just my desktop icons acting up?

As mentioned in my ongoing post on the Simulator, none of the Dashboard elements except for the camera work / respond.

When we were hooked up to our test bot robot, we really couldn't figure out what was going on with the battery indicator and honestly felt like it was trolling us. When connected and enabled to an actual robot and code is not pushed down, the battery indicator increases. When code is pushed down and the robot is enabled, the battery indicator decreases. Both the increase and the decrease occur gradually in a period of about 5 seconds. Did this happen to anyone else or is our robot's battery playing tricks?
